Hello, Audi-ophiles; I need some aUDIdvice

Please excuse the quick nature of this request, I've neither lurked in the
background on the list, nor have I done any REAL research into a current
prospective AUDI purchase, I am, however, extremely close (as in today or
tomorrow) to purchasing a '92 100 CS that I have pretty much fallen in love
with.

I've been loosely in the market for a BMW 5er or an MB 300E for the past
few months (I'm a bit partial to rear wheel drive), but as I'm sure you
know... those vehicles are pricey and generally the mileage on a used one
tends to the high side. Anyway, over the weekend I  found a '92 100 CS with
extremely low mileage and a 5 speed to boot! I went and drove the car and
what can I say... it's gorgeous, the only problem: a tiny paint chip in the
left rear door (I swear to God, that's all I could find, and I got under
the car). Anyway, I've researched the hell out of both the 5er and the 300E
and I know what to look for to avoid potential problems, but I've just
never looked into the Audi's.

Could some of you knowledgeable Audi-ophiles, and hopefully, a few of you
'92 100 owners, give my your advice/comments/anecdotes/whatever on this
beautiful car? I'm especially interested in any weak spots (if there are
any, like electronics, mechanicals, body structure), as well as what I
might expect down the road (rattles, mpg, maintenance). I've taken a quick
look through the archives, but I've yet to come across anything specific,
I'll keep looking... Thanks in advance for any help provided, and again,
please excuse the nature of this message am I am taken completely by
surprise by this situation and my impending Audi-ness.
