Burning smell [was] 4kq acceleration issue

As Ed suggested, I did find something that was melted near the cat.
Between the fuel lines running up towards the fuel distributor there
is a clear (well yellowish now) hose that melted.  I didn't see
anything it would attach to.  I'm hoping this is some sort of drainage
hose for the A/C or sunroof and not the vacuum line for the locking
diff system.
