[s-cars] radiator fan running by itself

Anyone ever heard of this one?

My 92 S4 is running the radiator fan all by itself.  The car had been
sitting for a few days. I went into the garage to get something and heard
the fan start and stop.  This is the second time I have head it do this in
the last month.  Who know how often it has been doing this.  This morning
the battery was dead.  I hooked up a charger and the fan started and would
not shut off.  I unplugged the temp sensor underneath the intake manifold
and the fan turned off.  Plugged it back in and the fan is now off.  I
suspect a bad temp sensor.

Any btdt?
