[200q20v] shifter totally hosed

Okay, just drove home from an errand, with a friend, in 2nd gear..and 
-only- second gear.  We quickly progressed from 1+2 only being 
difficult, to all gears being difficult, to suddenly no gears.

The shifter then popped hard over to the right, and I discovered I 
had some access to 1-4.

But, I pushed my luck, and now the shifter is floating free.  I 
didn't play with the shifter any more since I didn't want to get out 
of 2nd gear.

I found the Bently sections on the linkage system and how to remove 
the boot.  Any BTDTs'?  I should know more once I get the shifter 
boot off.
