I did recall your posting that a few months back. So, before I reattached
the cover I gave it a quick try with 0000 steel wool. Didn't seem to do
much unless I'd  been willing to really lean into it for a good while. But
I wasn't.  So...I settled for the "weathered, but clean" look. Sorta like
_me_ on a good day (well not today, since I've just finished getting the
car back together--new valve cover gasket and ignition wires.)

BTW, any significance to the fact that my new (Blaufergnügen) wires have
about 6.5K ohm resistance compared to about 5.9K ohm for the old oem wires?
The fit was very good.
