No experience with the glass, but you could likely get some inexpensive junkyard stuff and save some $$.

My cruise was similar to what you've described; it got better.  I found if I "pulled up" on the brake pedal when setting it, it worked fine; probably a dirty switch.  Now I don't even have to do that.

Hopefully the stone chips on the hood are also self-repairing as we speak...
