I just bought a new distributor, Bosch part no. 0 237 522 019, which has the
metal gear. I tried my local dealership and a few other suppliers to get
the metal gear upgrade and was only able to find one at The Parts Connection
(no affiliation, just a happy customer). Another claimed benefit to the
plastic gear is noise reduction. I have not installed the new part yet, but
I'll post to the group if there is any difference.
