Does sound like my dealer here in Pittsfield, MA, who I stopped dealing with,
except for dire necessities, in 1987, when I dropped off my brand new 5000CS
Turbo quattro sedan at 8 am for its initial new-car service (2k mi.?, 4k mi.? I
forget) Anyway, when I returned to pick it up at 5 pm, I was told it was not
ready and would not be at a predictable time. My sin? I bought the car from a
dealer in PA (where, until a couple of years earlier I had resided for all my
life) and with whom I was well-acquainted, and for a few thousand dollars less
than the local was willing to sell me the identical car, even after being given
the opportunity and the comparable price. The reason given by the service
department? "We give preference to our customers!" Needless to say, I have not
dealt with that yotz since. Regards, Tom
