[200q20v] blown starter...

greetings,

Yesterday, when I went to start my car, the started clicked but didn't
turn over.  Battery voltage looked fine, so I tried again and got another
click - louder this time - and a poof of smoke came from under the hood
near the passenger's side headlight.  Now there is no response at all from
the starter.  I've never seen a starter die in a plume of smoke... is this
typical?  Has anyone had any luck buying the solenoid only for the
200q20v?  I'm guessing that the starter is the same as most other I-5
models?
