I've been using Mobil 1 gear lube for years, in spite of the fact that it is
not GL4 compliant. But then I've also got 215,000 miles on the [ur-q] tranny
using M1 with no known problems. She runs very quietly and shifts very well
even when cold. I also use it in the 4KQ race car and my antique Pontiac T/A
with Doug Nash 4+1 5-speed trans. I'm not recommending this, but it has
worked well for me for 15+ years...

Subject: [200q20v] Synthetic Oil

Hey all,

Does anyone have a preference for synthetic tranny oil. I'm about to dive
in to my elbows in this vehicle of mine, and one of the things I'm going to
do is change the tranny fluid. Definetely going synthetic, just wondering
if anyone has any preferences for tranny juice; right now I'm debating
between Redline or Amsol (sp?). Any preferences, and I'd have to also ask
why. Redline seems to be most peoples favorite, but Amsol does do a good
job making their product sound like king of the hill.

Thank for any input,
Derek
