I would love to install one in all my cars, but it's a nono on a stick.
I'm surprised a shop would even offer to do this, it's a tremendous
liability.
If you could rig up a circuit such that it is open when the car is in
any gear and closed when in neutral, you could safely do this. Doesn't
sound like the "switch" method they are offering is safe - just remember
to leave the car in neutral, who needs the switch? Unless they can
trigger the switch by the car being in neutral, as I suggest...
