Beyond the infant mortality issue with any new component, slight differences
in alternator output voltage can account for higher failure rates on some
cars.  Filiment life varies as the inverse of the applied voltage to some
higher power, third as I remember.  Measure your voltage at the lamp, and
possibly change your regulator.
