I'd also expect the spedo to read a hair higher on worn tires versus brand new, and to vary among brands a bit... plus higher speeds tend to exagerate the amount it seems off (let's say the spedo is about 3% off; at 30mph that's about 1mph; at 100 that's about 3mph off, at 120 it's 4mph off.  If it is 6% off, at 30 that's 2mph, at 60 thats 3.5 mph off, at 90 thats 5.5 mph off).

If it is noticeably off on those "measured miles" then you're probably in need of an adjustment.
