[200q20v] New radio in 90q20v

Yes, I know - not 200q20v related. I just thought I would ask here first.

Anyone here know much about putting a different head unit in a 90q20v? A
friend of mine got one (Sony? Pioneer?) and has the harness for it, but is
having trouble. He claims he unplugged the jumpers from the rear speakers to
disable the amps, and the dash lights stopped working. I can almost believe
this, but not quite. Anyway, if anyone would care to help me out, I'd
appreciate it.
