[200q20v] Antenna splice for new radio?

Speaking of reception, I suspect any common roof or fender antenna 
produces better long distance reception than either of our sedan's 
in-the-glass antennas. Has anyone else had this experience, when 
you drive some other car with a lesser stereo (assumedly) yet with 
a single 2-3 foot fender mounted antenna and you can pull in distant 
stations much clearer than with our Deltas with the window antennas?  

I suspect the dual antenna design is better for avoiding FM multipath 
problems in metropolitan areas, but I suspect the best system overall 
would be dual antennas where only one in in a window and the other is 
a conventional mast antenna on a fender.  The only shortcoming would 
be asthetic, but I'd sure prefer the reception when I'm 50-100 miles 
from the transmitter.  

Anyone have any experience on better long distnance reception?

Just make sure you still give power to roof antenna. Otherwise your
reception WILL be lousy.

There is only one antenna input on the new piece. Are any of
you aware of a splice kit or fix that will allow me to use
both windshield and roof antennas to improve reception??
