i used a "seat" that reclined down into a bed, (or a bed that folded up to
a seat) when my daughter was very young. i forget who makes it but the
infant is lying down on their back with their head & feet towards the
doors. it secured very nicely and is unsurpassed in safety for their head
stability, i brought my daughter home from the hospital in a regular rear
facing seat with one of those inserts and special ordered the bed seat the
next day. only issue is you are not going to get three across of these in
any vehicle....these days she enjoys her century front facing bucket
booster seat with 5 point harness (which she can buckle herself) key for
all seats has always been; proper angle, (shimmed with towel which also
helps protect the leather and practically sitting in the seat yourself when
you secure it with the factory belts to lock it in place....thank god the
worst she's ever experienced so far is locking them up in the urq to avoid
hitting a deer.....she already knows her performance audis and restraint
systems...could be trouble at age 16

base that you install using the seat belts; it then locks in place to the
base. Handy; you can take the child in/out without waking them; the seat
also has provisions for a belt across the top, in case you want to use it
in a second car (or just buy a second base).
