Next time you're out hot dogging around, and it's dark out, pop the hood and watch the turbo and possibly manifold glow...

Smart to let the last mile or two you drive be sedate, and watch to see oil and water temps in normal ranges.  Opening the hood helps a lot, too.

The pump runs coolant backwards through the head; the fan cools the coolant.
