I agree that given: (a) the trivial cost of the oem fudible link
plus (b) the fact that they last nearly 10 years (mine is still
original) that it makes little sense to bother with alternatives.
Might want to splurge for a spare link to carry in the glove box.
However it's not likely it'll ever be used.
I'd imagine that you could simply clean off the corrosion from your
present link and reuse it. That might qualify for a Benz Award. :-)
