I'm not sure what could be the problem in your situation. I was able to get
my cd player to work again, but I didn't have any issues with the player
actually skipping then dying. I know that the Bentley has some
troubleshooting procedures if things aren't working correctly, but I don't
know those off the top of my head, and am not in a place where I have access
to the maintenance manuals.

As to the Sony status, I'll agree with that and though it's probably worth a
shot to try calling Sony direct, I have the sinking suspicion that you would
probably need to go through the dealership; propritory (sp?) and all that.

Things I can think of would be bad cd's (but I'm pretty sure you've thought
of this), or maybe the laser/lens in the cd player are out of alignment, but
neither are diy projects. When the cd player goes into t.u mode, is there
any series of letters or numbers displayed on the cd changer controller?

I'll also forward this to the list to give others a crack at it.

Best of luck,

Derek Pulvino
