[200q20v] RE: [s-cars] Oil Pressure

Rob,
	I would believe this if it wasn't for the fact that in almost every other
S4 I have ever driven it read 0 when the engine was off and the ignition was
on, plus I see no reason Audi would have switched gauge implementations as
it would have cost money rather than saved it.  Also my gauge stays with the
1 Bar offset and as such is just off the scale when cruising at 75 MPH which
renders the gauge pretty much useless, which BTW, is what I think most
electrical oil pressure gauges are, just a little better than idiot lights.
Most likely explanation is crappy gauge or sending unit.

I spent a few years in medical engineering (pneumatic) and the type of gauge
difference may be explainable:

It might be that the S4 gauge measures in absolute pressure (that's why it
reads 1 bar
with engine off, just like your boost gauge - our atmosphere is at 1 bar),
and the 200
measures in differential pressure...if true, then the 200 will read zero
with the
engine off. These two approaches to measuring pressure are typical for gauge
manufacturers.
