Note that Audi is not the only company slow in completing a recall...this sounds similar to the AAN cars having leaky fuel lines (can happen to our 200's, btw, check those braided lines on occasion); also similar to our Bose issue.

"DAIMLER CHRYSLER
Recall, first declared September 2000, finally happening next month; company will fix leaky fuel rail seals in 1996-2000 minivans
DaimlerChrysler is preparing to come through with a planned recall of more than a million 1996 to 2000 model minivans to replace fuel-rail seals that could leak and cause the vehicle to catch fire. The automaker had told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in September 2000 that it would recall the vehicles but has not done so yet. A two-part story in Sunday's Detroit News reports that three people have died in sudden vehicle fires, one in a Town & Country and two in a Dodge Caravan, that are suspected to be related to the l! eaky seals. NHTSA has received twenty-five reports of engine fires and fifty-six reports of fuel leaks in the vans, the story reports.
A DaimlerChrysler spokesman told the News that the recall has been delayed because the automaker had trouble putting enough replacement parts into production and had to come up with an alternative replacement part. Dealers will be supplied with replacement parts so that the recall can take place in late January. The problem area, the News reports, is a pair of o-ring seals on the fuel rail, which may break down with time or high temperatures. A leak in the seals could lead to gasoline being sprayed inside the engine compartment, possibly causing a fire. "
