You have rightly pointed out that I have combined front and rear wheel toe
adjustment descriptions in my write up, but in practice I would to one at a
time. Finish the front, and then procede to the rear. Sorry for this
confusion.
Considering front wheel toe:
The straight edge, held against and touching the tire sidewall in two
places, defines a line perpendicular to the axis of the axle at axle height.
The plumb bob is used to drop this line to the floor, for cross measurement
purposes, at two points on each side, one just ahead of the front wheel and
one at the center of the car beside the B post. The total toe is determined
as I have described using the difference between these two cross
measurements.
Simultaneously, the toe setting is centered on the chassis by equalizing the
distances between these straight edge axle height lines and like points on
either side of the chassis, at the B posts.
