In my experience, replacing the brushes is only a temporary 'Fix.'  Every
Audi I've replaced the brushes on had to have the alternator replaced within
6-9 months or so.  Of course, I'd check to see if you have an 'inferior'
brush pack first.  Aftermarket ones never seem to last as long as the OEM
pieces, but it can be difficult to get Bosch brushpaks, as most rebuilders
don't want to sell them separately.
