Brett,

You are among those easily confused if you detect no difference between
Orin's statement:
"'Boost' is by definition MAP - atmospheric."
and my correction:
"MAP is the abbrevation for Manifold Absolute Pressure, not atmospheric."
"Boost" relates to atmospheric pressure, thus it is a gauge pressure
measaurement.

Orin is correct only if you believe MAP is the universally accepted
abbrevation for "Manifold atmospheric Pressure", (what ever that might be)
as apparently he is attempting to define it.  It is not.  Even the term
"Manifold atmospheric Pressure" makes no sense, inasmuch as MP can be of any
value within a wide pressure range.
