Hmmm. I recall that the hard part (for me) was releasing the pair of 
locking tabs that keep the electrical connector in place.  In an old 
post, I once said the following about getting access to the connector 
(for testing--not sensor removal, but the procedure is the same for 
both):

As I recall, it was possible to get an open-end wrench in and loosen 
the sensor about a 1/4 turn. Then, once that electrical connector 
could be pulled off, I think I used a box-end wrench (or maybe a deep 
socket) to do the job of removing the temp. sensor. Installation will 
probably not present the same problem--as the connector probably can 
be pushed in place without regard for access to the tabs (I think).
