In Germany, you could get the "sports type body" with flared fenders prior to the 20v.

I've got a couple of screen captures I'll have to throw them up..it's
been on enough times that i've got an almost complete collection of
shots. It's unknown if it is a 20v, but the body style is certainly
right. The engine didn't get placed in any car(save the sport and other
racing cars) until several years after the movie's production date; more
like 3 years. Note it also lacks "20 valve" badges on the back(which euro
cars did have.) I suspect Audi was "toying" with the design back then,
and thought they'd float the design and see what people thought. The
car's not really played up, so it would be a subtle way of getting some
free market feedback.
I -do- want those wheels, they appear to be at least 16 inch versions of
what we got. Oh well. I'll guess I'll just have to "settle" for a set of
Borbet type C's...saw them on Greg's car, haven't been able to forget them
since. Plus even the 17x8.5's are cheaper than buying a used, bashed up,
possibly bent/cracked set of S6 starfish wheels from someone on ebay.
The only real question is, 7.5 or 8.5? :-)
