Tom:

If its a warbling sound (kind of like a turkey) then the Timing belt is too 
tight and it's putting pressure on the H2O pump.  The TBs are kevlar 
reinforced and will not stretch like the accessory belts.  If you are very 
careful, you might be able to use a screw drive to help diagnose where the 
noise is actually coming from -put the tip on the body of the AC 
compressor, alternator, hydraulic pump and your ear against the handle - 
but please be careful with the engine running.

Have you tried running the engine with the CC on the econ setting vs auto? 
that might eliminate the AC compressor clutch.
