Very occasionally, a posting to this list includes neither a 
signature nor any other identification (except email address.) That's 
probably just an oversight in most cases, but I hope we can agree 
that it's a practice that should not be encouraged.

Related to this, I'd like to encourage everyone to consider not 
merely a "sig", but a reasonably _informative_ one. By "informative" 
I don't intend that we share info about soc.-sec. account number, 
blood type or annual income. I don't even care if you want to keep 
confidential the mileage on your Audis. However, I'd like to see all 
signatures contain a full name (first _and_ last, please) as well as 
the city/state of residence. I think that an indication of our 
locations--info that's typically absent--not only encourages a spirit 
of community, but also is very useful in reference to FS items, local 
sources of parts/service, and weather-related aspects of our Audis' 
care and operation.

Of course I'm not suggesting anything be mandatory--some might have 
good reason to remain as anonymous as possible (e.g., government 
witness-protection program, evasion of alimony
payments, etc.)  In those cases, perhaps just the continent of 
residence would be a nice touch :-)
