Thanks to the list knowledge I tried to remove the
rear diff fill plug before draining the rear diff.
It was well crusted over with rust and took a bit of
spraying and scraping to get the hex clean enough to
put my hex socket in. No amount of cursing and
screaming could get the fill plug to budge and I don't
have a cheater bar short enough to work under the car.
lots of penetrating oil sprayed and I will try
loosening it again next weekend.
What is the proper technique in getting this off? If
I use a propane torch, do I heat the plug or the metal
around the plug?
Previous owner was better than me at maintaining the
car but it doesn't appear the rear diff has ever been
removed... I hope this is not the case.
thanks
Chi
