Thanks Everyone for the Help.

As it turns out I was off a tooth. Good call Wolff.
Now the org marks I made from the dist-body to head line up as well as the
factory mark on the dist-body-face to the mark on the cover (under the
rotor, which is directly under the center of the rotor and at #1 electrode
at TDC.

So in summary: at TDC the factory marks do line up and point to #1
electrode. Duh,

Won't have a chance to fire it up until the weekend.

Thanks again.

BTW
Looking inside my old distributor cap is lots of gray looking grease around
the lower inside edges and the inside surfaces seem to be coated with a oily
substance which is also coated with some debris. All the electrodes had lots
of carbon on them and the rotor tip had arc spots and generally looked bad
as well.
No wonder the car was not running so good (however I was getting around
actual,24.5mpg mix).

Any Ideas where this gray grease/oil came from?

Les
