Much of the steering feel is determined by the state of the bushings and your 
alignment.  Note that the steering damper was also used on earlier cars with 
a manual rack...
I'm using 255's on my car, and the parking level of effort is fine (easy, 
even), as is high speed feel.  Perhaps Brett's pump isn't putting out 
sufficient pressure, and/or his bomb has blown?
