What I found about the fuse box cover not closing properly/securely:
If you slide the cover's hinges all the way into the boxe's hinges the cover
does not latch properly. This is how I got the contamination in there. If
after you slide the cover's hinges in all the way, then slide the cover's
hinges back out just a hair (a calibrated metric hair of course :) and then
attempt to latch the cover it will latch completely and securely and seal
properly. Unfortunately I discovered this little trick only after the
contamination entered. :(
A quick word on the contamination, it is minimal, the cover was closed but
not sealed for only a few days. There is no sign of solids, sand, dirt,
particles, etc, only trace evidence of dried road chemical that must have
entered while in solution is in evidence.
