[200q20v] Air Filter Blues - to K&N or to not K&N?

I've heard and seen the same, but for the cone conversion, not for the drop in panel.
IMO, the drop in panel doesn't do more than add noise and dirt to the engine, but what do I know?
If you'd like to test how much extra power you'd get, remove the paper filter, clean out the intake area, and take a drive down a dust-free road with no restriction from a filter...

Autospeed in Australia did a test on the S4, and found that the mass air flow meter was a bigger restriction than the box, thus gains at the box don't help.

I have heard the K&N is not a good idea on the 200q20v, something about
upsetting the airflow meter, NO BTDT here.... I've been told to stick with
the factory-type paper filters for this application and just change them
frequently for max performance.

Comments? (like a needed to ask :)
