I thought I would chime in and say I agree that my analog boost gauge is a
valuable tool for diagnosing boost problems, and I like the air fuel gauge
for fuel delivery problems.

although you don't have any of these, you are checking the right things.
Check codes first then make sure your bypass valve is working and installed
correctly. Make sure the hoses to both the upper and lower chambers of your
waste gate are leak free. Also for $25 bucks you can get a mightyVac at
AutoZone or other parts places where you can test your waste gate diaphragm
and bypass valve.(also makes brake bleeding a dream) When you disconnect
your wgfv do you see 1.4bar on your dash gauge?

If your throttle position switch is not working I got mine for around $50 -
$60 bucks at bimmerparts.com.

Keep us posted on your trouble shooting.

Subject: [200q20v] Lack of boost very puzzling... long winded question

Hi everyone,

I have been trying to figure out a lack of boost for the last many
months, not urgent, since the car has considerable performance even
at 1.5 bar... however I have run out of ideas.
