[200q20v] gas prices - can we help keep them down?

You are correct regarding the taxation. It accounts for nearly 70% of the
gas price (i think).
However, due to the fact, that the US seems to be low on gas right now, they
are buying a lot of barrels from Rotterdam, thereby sending the gas prices
even higher here in Europe. The last 10% of the gas price hike came without
additional taxes.
Having said all that, I definitly liked the fact of being able to fill-up my
Miata for 12US$ while being in the States for 1,5 years, and touring thru a
lot of states (30000mls). After returning to Germany my first full-up was
60US$ (Audi 100q avant)
At least try to acknoledge the fact, that it is a lot cheaper to operate a
car in terms of fuel, oil etc. in the US than it is in other parts of the
world.
Best regards, and enjoy the weekend.

I will not!
The differences in gas prices between here and other parts of the world
are completely contrived by governmental forces, on both sides of the
issues. If you take away the taxes on fuel, the base cost of fuel is in
about
the same ballpark for you and I. You're government is simply getting
away
with more of your money than ours. The comparisons of gas prices between
one country's system of taxation and another are completely invalid.
In the case of our recent soaring gas prices, the taxes haven't changed.
In fact the govt has been urged to roll back taxes to help the consumer.
So in our case, it's the gas companies that are gouging us.
