BTDT many times.  The best thing to do is to remove the gearbox and 
disassemble, clean out the wiper gearbox with carb or brake cleaner, and 
relube with synthetic grease.  The biggest problem with the rear wipers is 
that as the audi lube gets old, it turns to a very thick glue like substance. 
 This applies to all rear wiper motors on all audi models.  Don't forget to 
reinstall/replace the gearbox oring (where the wiper arm mounts on the shaft).
