Theoretical CR (static) can be computed via cyl diam,
stroke, piston volume (positive or negative) and
combusion chamber volume, it's a relatively
straighforward mathematical calculation.

Once you add a cam to the equation then the actual CR
will differ from the theoretical CR, especially one
with large overlap, and actual CR will also vary as a
function of RPM.

Valve and ring sealing will also change actual CR as
can the exhaust system. All not so simple.
