[200q20v] Gas smell with the climate control on

In the last week I've noticed that whenever I turn on the climate control 
in my wagon, there is a distinct gas odor. This lasts for about 2 minutes 
and then everything goes back to smelling normal. It doesn't seem to make a 
difference whether the heater is on or the AC. Also it doesn't just happen 
at start up, but also happens if I've been driving for a little bit and 
then turn on the AC. I did have some work done on my car last week, 
replaced radiator hoses, tie rod and alignment, but those don't seem like 
things that might cause this problem. I do plan on talking to my mechanic 
this week, but thought that I might seek out list wisdom first.
