[200q20v] Engine cleaning

Problem: Dirty, dirty engine compartment. I have a
Pentosin leak (shocker!) and it is very difficult to
determine exactly where it is coming from due to all
the crud around there.

I was wondering if anyone had tried one of those
handheld, portable steam cleaners (like the Steam
Buggy, etc) or perhaps a commercial steam cleaning
with any success?

I've used Simple Green, that Castrol purple stuff, etc
with limited results. That stuff works good in some
places, but in spots where you can't scrub it seems to
be less effective.

Suggestions?
