I had an annoying clunk in the rear of my V8 earlier this year and it ended
up being the front bushing on the rear lower control arm. The bushing
appeared to be OK but on closer inspection showed that the shoulder of the
bushing was separated from the body of the bushing allowing the side of the
control arm to move slighting forward and hit the bushing clamp. It sounded
like something rattling in the trunk of the car. You may want to check for
this condition although your pictures look like a leaking shock my be the
main problem.
