[200q20v] Glued distributor rotor?

When I bought my 200 20v 3 years ago, I replaced the "incorrect" rotor with
the 414 R1 narrow style.
Thing is, the old one was not glued and niether is its replacement.

Seems I learn something every day. I had never heard of the need to glue on a
rotor.
Or is it simply a preventative safety measure on high rpm cars?

Any feedback?
