Please correct me if I am wrong here, but my understanding is that a typical
color 4x6 print that has been "commercially" processed has a resolution of
only about 200 dpi. The "old" black and white prints on the other hand, had
a resolution of over 2200 dpi. Also, the typical PC screen can display a
resolution of about 100 dpi max, so for viewing on a PC screen, there is
never any need to scan at more than 100 dpi.
