Well, I removed the combo switch, inspected the wires leading to the combo
switch and basically found nothing (objectionable, that is).  So far all
seems fine.  Of course, that's not to say something internal within the combo
switch might be marginal.  Time will tell and if something does happen, I'll
be sure to inform you.  Back to removing the fuel tank on the Urq.
