They do have a fair amount of problems, it seems. You can replace the radio
for free if you have the receipt and it was replaced within 12 months, I
believe. Otherwise, exchange runs ~$100 with core. Or $600+ without! From
my own experience, if it's just a volume control problem (wiggle the volume
knob to see if it turns on again), you may be better off having a local shop
that repairs radios and such repair it than wait for a dubious replacement
radio.
It took three months to get mine from Audi, and it's worse than the original
one (except for the defective volume control knob). HTH.
Of course, if in addition to a bad head unit, you have any defective Bose amp
problems, I would suggest a new aftermarket powered head unit and bypassing
all the Bose amps as others have done.
