Hey all,
I sent a similar message to this a while ago, but for some reason it didn't
get through to the list. About 6-months ago I sent my old 3b dist. to a
"Mr. X" in Canada. The goal of this whole schenanigan was to have his
machine shop amigo use the cam gear off my old dist. as a model for
machining a new metal gear for our application.
Well, didn't go as planned, I haven't heard back from the guy, and well said
gear stills exists in the ether of my imagination. If Mr. X would kindly
let us know what the progress of this project was, maybe this would be
another option for those out there who just need a new gear, need to do
shimming etc, or do not have a crapped out hall sender as was the case with
my old dist and just want some non-plastic gear insurance for less than the
price of a new distributor.
Maybe, "Mr. X" your name will have to be tarnished in front of your peers...
I'd be very surprised if your still not lurking out there in browse mode.

P.S. Pete, if this message gets to you but not to the 200 list, could you
forward for me, as I've had problems with my posts getting to the list as of
late.

Steve:
The new distributor will NOT address the valve train noise which is due to
the wear of the cam gear and chain.
It will address the issue of catastrophic failure of the plastic gear which
can leave you stranded, however.
Paul Royal (16 RoT) and John Larson on the 20v list have both experienced
this failure...
Alexander can address the price difference.
BTW, you didn't mention whether you need one for the 90/CQ 20v (7A engine)
or the 200q20vT (3b engine)
