I recently talked to a mechanic who has taken apart some Audi's (more along
the lines of the 80s Audis, 5000s and 4000s) that my pilot bearing might be
going out after I described my symptoms to him. I posted a little while ago
concerning this (just a few days ago, unless my memory isn't' what it used
to be.
I do tend to miss my shift into 3rd more often than any other shift. I've
even missed it downshifting, so I wouldn't be surprised if the pilot bearing
could be the culprit.
