engine/tranny alignment?

On earlier 200q models, the Bentley illustrates an alignment
specification/procedure for the fore-and-aft (longitudinal)
positioning of the engine/tranny unit, however there is no comparable
info that I could find there for the '91 200q.

Does anyone have info about this? I assume this should only be an
issue _before_ assembling the complete drivetrain i.e., prior to
connecting engine/tranny to the driveshaft and rear differential. Is
this correct, or is it possible that the longitudinal positioning can
be incorrect even when all elements are connected?

I'm raising this point in my attempt to understand if some sort of
(correctable) misalignment could cause that mysterious driveline
noise that I've posted about--the noise that is heard only while
coasting off-throttle and is silenced by pulling straight up on the
shift lever.
