One also could just pull the radio out far enough to view (and write
down) its serial number, and then go to the dealer's service
department to have them look up the security code. This takes them
just a few seconds to do if the VW/Audi computer system is working.
Since it's best to request this at a time when the service department
isn't very busy, a phone call in advance wouldn't hurt (although
don't expect them to provide the code over the phone).
