...unlike the 200 list, which you don't even need to be a member of to post :-)
It's one of the reasons I really dislike it when people cc in the
s-car list; I never remember to remove the address from the to/cc
headers, so I get a bounce a few minutes later...and the threads get
totally out of sync/mixed up/jumbled because the left hand doesn't
know what the right has done. Worse, if someone responds to a thread
on both lists and they belong to the s-car list, the s-car list sees
only the response...but not a reply that might come from a 200q20v
member.
I also think the practice of cc'ing a separate mailing list for a
series of cars which are very, very different from ours is pretty
silly. They're both for discussion of specific models, and traffic
should reflect that. Questions about other models you may have in
your stable, for example, really don't belong here. There is a
reason I don't belong to the s-car list, and there's a reason most
s-car list members don't belong to the 200q20v list :-)
General car topic discussions, in a perfect world, should be held on
the main quattro list, not on the two spinoffs(I don't wish to speak
for Darin, but he's referred to the quattro list as "the mother
list", which leads me to believe that he considers his list to be a
spinoff of the quattro list, just like I consider the 200q20v list to
be a spinoff); the whole point of the 200q20v list was to provide a
low-traffic, focused discussion about our cars. I'll be the first to
admit that I've long since retreated into the 200q20v list for many
questions that really belonged on the main list...

PS:you can join the main list and check the "nomail" option to be
able to post there without getting flooded with email; you can always
read it via the archives, for example, to keep current...just do
everyone a favor and do archive searches before you post...
