Knowing how much we all like to hear road disaster stories, you will
be entertained by our expedition into the heart of the Las Palmas
National Forest to take a spring time flower hike. (The Lupen are
fantastic this year.) In keeping with the time honored tradition of
the most difficult problem the greatest distance from help and tools,
the heater valve in my '91 200 TQW decided to blow apart as we
approached the heart of the remote forest (I cannot understand why it
would do that after only 225,000 miles.) The valve is, of course,
behind everything, accessible only next to the hot exhaust manifold,
etc., etc.
After an hour of whittling two wood plugs, skinned and burned
knuckles, and a few gallons of water from a fellow strandee, we
proceeded without a heater. It was 90 degrees anyway.
Anybody have the part number for the heater valve?
